Frédéric Rozé, president and CEO of L’Oréal USA, has announced that Joseph J. Campinell, president of L’Oréal USA’s Consumer Products Division has retired from the company effective June 2011. Campinell joined the company in 1986, as vice president of marketing for what was then known as Cosmair, L’Oréal’s licensing agent in the U.S. He was promoted to senior vice president/general manager of the L’Oréal Retail Hair Division in 1996 and a year later was appointed president of the combined L’Oréal Retail Hair, Cosmetic and Fragrance Divisions. Under his leadership, L’Oréal grew to become the largest hair color brand in the U.S., as well as a formidable cosmetic and skin care brand. In 2002, Campinell was named president of the entire Consumer Products Group at L’Oréal USA, which includes L’Oréal Paris, Maybelline New York-Garnier and SoftSheen-Carson. Through the years, Campinell has been responsible for overseeing some of the company’s most important launches, including Garnier Fructis shampoos and hair care products, which were introduced in the American market in 2003, and the Nutritioniste line which launched in 2007.
